The response may end up doing more harm than the virus itself. In situations like these, every little bit of budget help is important as we all tighten our belts financially.

One simple way to save money is to make sure you have your homestead exemption filed with the county. If you own a home, and you occupied your home on January 1st of this year, you are entitled to a homestead exemption if the home is your primary residence. You have until April 30th of this year to file this exemption. I have been surprised over my years in real estate to find long time home owners who did not have this exemption in place. Many homeowners needlessly pay more property tax than they need to for years.
