Christmas 2020

Community events highlight the beauty of a small town in Texas. For example, one Saturday in December  the City of Montgomery always shines brightly. Christmas 2020 officially comes on Saturday, December 12th with its annual, family-friendly Christmas events like the Lone Star Christmas Parade, a Cookie Walk, Candlelight Home Tour, and a Holiday Marketplace.

The Lone Star Christmas Parade:

Registration has closed for anyone who wanted to participate; however, it is not too late to mark your calendars and pick your viewing spot along the parade route. The parade intends to commence at 9:00 a.m. It will begin on Liberty Street, cross Eva Street, and continue through historic downtown Montgomery. To see the official parade route, click here.

Different clubs, organizations, and businesses sponsor floats in the parade, which highlight what makes Montgomery special. Therefore, come support and learn more about the community. You might just be inspired to become involved next year.

The 30th Annual Cookie Walk:

This tradition raises funds for the Montgomery Historical Society, which maintains the seven historical buildings in Montgomery. The local chapter of the National Charity League (NCL) stages the community center with all the sweets, cookies, and candies, which local families donate. Members of NCL also stay to serve the delicious treats all day until 5 p.m. The doors open at 10:00 a.m. allowing the public to select anything they want and pay by the pound before leaving.

Event organizers want everyone to know in light of Coronavirus concerns, they have worked closely with the Montgomery County Health Department to ensure everyone’s safety. Therefore, appropriate changes have been made. All cookies and candies will wrapped. Servers will be gloved and masked. Participants will be given gloves before entering the center and masks will be mandatory.

The Candlelight Home Tour:

This will be the 42nd Annual Candlelight Tour in Montgomery. It is a great way to see the historical buildings decked out for Christmas. Volunteers will be dressed in period costume. You can pretend for a moment that you are back in time. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children, including students. They will be available to purchase that Saturday.

The Holiday Marketplace:

Shop local and support small businesses. Helping small businesses during the Christmas season will definitely brighten their day after such a hard year. Consequently in light of the pandemic, vendors will be set up to allow for more distance for shoppers. There will be unique gifts, including homegrown and homemade items. You never know what awesome gifts you will find.

In conclusion, Montgomery, Texas will shine on Saturday, December 12th and not only from Christmas lights, but because of its community spirit. Come see for yourself what makes Montgomery such a great place to live. Enjoy Christmas cheer all day long with any and all these options. We rejoice that Christmas 2020 continues to have the same annual events with some minor adjustments.
