Do you ever watch Dream Home Makeover on Netflix? If so, then you know Shea McGee and her interior design style. If not, then you know what to tune into and watch sometime this spring. From interior design to product design and merchandise, Studio McGee is becoming known all over the world for its beautiful style in homes and in individual pieces. Today we are going to look into Shea’s predictions for home design trends in 2025.
Romance-
You might be wondering what romance has to do with interior design but think of details that soften a piece of furniture or space. For example, curved edges, ruffles, and/or floral patterns. Shea utilizes these romantic aspects in her designs and clients love them. Softening up a space makes it feel more welcoming and cozy, too.
Saturated Hues-
Vibrant, intense colors are huge right now in home design. Think natural colors like browns, blues, greens, and even reds. Of course, you don’t have to paint your entire home with these deep, rich colors. Instead, employ these saturated hues in accent pieces, artwork, upholstery, pillows, and much more. The richness of the colors of nature will ground your home and bring depth to the space.
Pattern Drenching and Embellishments-
Layering the same pattern throughout the same room is pattern drenching. Some people are not ready to commit to this trend. The easiest room to start is in a bedroom. This type of room welcomes layering of pillows, sheets, blankets naturally. Finding a pattern you love or a set of patterns that compliment each other work well for this trend.
Less is more, except in homes this year. Embellishments are in, which means that designers are adding details to pieces from fringe to pleats. In my words, people want more texture instead of smooth, sleek looks. Texture makes a space fill full and complete. Embellishments bring warmth to a room, too.
Western Cowboy-
Think rustic but with a western or equestrian twist. You can go all out with saddles and cowboy art. Or you can include western cowboy in less obvious ways. I am sure that the popular series, Yellowstone, has something to do with this interior design trend. Of course, it will not be everyone’s cup of tea. As with any trend, only incorporate trends that you love in your own home.
Coastal-
Just like the Western Cowboy trend, you can go all in on a seaside-inspired coastal trend. Including items like shells, rope, and other nautical themes are becoming popular.
These home design trends in 2025 signal to me that minimalist design is going out of style. People want warm, inviting, and cozy spaces this year. How will you incorporate any of these trends? Or will you at all? Regardless, I always like to know what the trends are for home interiors.
