Honors Veterans

Friday, November 11th is Veterans Day. It is a day that our nation honors veterans by recognizing all those who served our country in the United States Armed Forces. The date coincides with Armistice Day, which was the end of World War I. Residents in the Lake Conroe area love their veterans and have planned many different ways to honor them this weekend.

Veterans Day Breakfast

If you are a veteran, come to the VFW Post 4709 on Friday, November 11th at 8 a.m. for a free breakfast. Bring your family, too. They will be serving breakfast until 11 a.m.

Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Commission

This non-profit group is hosting a program for veterans and their families. Come out to the Veterans Memorial Park at 9 a.m. General Mark Welsh will be speaking. Enjoy music from the Conroe Symphony Orchestra. In addtion, watch new recruits swear in to serve our great nation in the Army.

Conroe ISD’s Tribute

This is an annual event hosted by Conroe ISD in honor of our local veterans. It will be live-streamed or you can attend in person. For those veterans in attendance, you will receive a challenge coin. Their “Salute to Veterans” begins at 10 a.m. at the Woodforest Bank Stadium. To see past year’s tributes, click here.

Montgomery County truly honors veterans. There are enough activities and events in the Lake Conroe area celebrating them to fill an entire day. Regardless if you can attend any of these events, please take the time to thank a veteran. They served our country and were willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for us. We salute them and their service.
