P-6 Farm Camp

Montgomery County has many working farms and ranches on acres and acres of beautiful pastureland.  One of our local treasures is P-6 Farms, which the Poole family owns and operates.  It draws huge crowds for its corn maze and fall festival every autumn.  They also offer other activities in the summer like picking blackberries or seeing their sunflower fields.  However this June they have something exciting for both parents and kids alike; they are offering Farm Camp 2020 next month.

Three sessions of Farm Camp run throughout June for any child ages 5 and up.  Children will spend half a day for four consecutive days learning hands-on at the farm.  Topics are: Life with Farm Animals, Bugs and Bees, Gardening, Farm to Table, and Tending Cattle.  It sounds like a great opportunity for children to learn where their food comes from if nothing else.

The P-6 farm motto is, “Work First, Play Second.”  However, I bet every child will have loads of fun as they help out, learn, and find out what being a farmer is all about.  As a little girl, I was raised on a working farm and chose to raise my children on one too.  The lessons we learned and the memories we share are invaluable.

If you were looking for something unique for your children or grandchildren to do this summer, consider registering for Summer Camp. Check out P-6 Farms regardless.  You will enjoy what this local farm and business has to offer throughout the year.
