Two weeks ago on this blog, I highlighted opportunities for you to donate food to help fill the Montgomery County Food Bank. Now we shift our focus to help families who are struggling during this difficult economic time. Today we are highlighting three local groups that will be serving Thanksgiving blessings for families in need.
Families Feeding Families
While Tomball is not in Montgomery County, it is close. Therefore, we are including this event as an option for families in need. This event is NOT on Thanksgiving Day. Instead, this non-profit organization is providing meals on Wednesday, November 27th. Come out to the Salem Community Center in Tomball from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a free Thanksgiving meal.
Friends of Conroe
This non-profit group hosts the annual Conroe Catfish Festival to raise money for scholarships and to support community organizations. One of their annual events is Friends Feeding Friends. This year on Thursday, November 28th to-go turkey dinners will be available from three different locations—Caney Creek Cowboy Church, Friends of Conroe headquarters in Conroe, and the Knights of Columbus in Willis. You can pick up meals from 10:30 a.m. through 1:30 p.m.
Salvation Army Montgomery County
From the Conroe Corps location on Avenue E, the Salvation Army Montgomery County will be providing about 3,000 meals for Thanksgiving. The meals will be served starting at 11:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. They are looking for monetary donations and/or volunteers. Please check out their website if you want to help.
Our local community does care. These three organizations are offering Thanksgiving blessings to families in need. Whether it is Families Feeding Families, Friends Feeding Friends, or the Salvation Army, it is neighbors feeding neighbors. This is one of the reasons that the Lake Conroe area is such a great place to live.
Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Mike Goins Real Estate!
