With Thanksgiving Day fast approaching, most people’s thoughts turn to food, recipes, and setting a beautiful table. Today we are going to look at three different Thanksgiving tablescape ideas. Regardless of your style or budget, these ideas will inspire you to set a fine table this month.
I chose to highlight the above video by Amy of Simply R Home for several reasons. First, the video gives three different tablescape ideas for Thanksgiving. Second, one of the centerpieces, in my opinion, would be better suited for the entire month of November than during the actual Thanksgiving dinner. It is beautiful, but too tall to look over it to the person on the other side of the table. However, as a decor setting throughout the month, it would truly elevate your dining room style. Another reason I chose this video is that Amy demonstrates napkin folding, especially the little pumpkin-shaped napkins.
Key Elements for Tablescapes
Lighting-
Candles are the easiest way to insert soft lighting during your dinner. They are my favorite option for lighting. However, fairy lights can be a great choice, too. Lighting creates mood and ambiance. It is definitely a key elements for any tablescape.
Texture-
A variety of textures create depth. Start with a table linen or runner. If you don’t have a runner nor want to spend substantial money on one, consider using a cheesecloth or two as a surprisingly beautiful and inexpensive option. From chargers and placemats to cloth napkins, it is easy to use a variety of textures in your tablescape. Try to create a balanced look by repeating similar textures throughout the table.
Layering-
Whether you are building your centerpiece or each individual place setting, there are many opportunities to layer. Layering also creates depth as well as visual interest.
Natural Components-
Leaves, pinecones, wicker, leather, beeswax candles, pumpkins, and flowers are examples of natural elements that could help you create your Thanksgiving tablescape. Whether they are actual elements or whether they are artificial items, they can work when done right. Natural materials create an inviting, cozy ambiance. They have been found to reduce stress, too.
Hopefully you have noticed that Amy with Simply R Home incorporates all of these key elements in her three different tablescapes. I also hope that you are inspired to create an inviting atmotsphere from these Thanksgiving tablescape ideas. Regardless if your Thanksgiving day table is Pinterest-worthy or not, the most important element is the people sitting around the table sharing the meal, feasting on conversation, and gathering to give thanks to the Lord. With that in mind, have an amazing November and Thanksgiving Day!
