January has been pretty quiet here in the Lake Conroe area. However, events are starting to happen in Montgomery County. Here are three local events in February that might pique your interest.
Conroe Boat Show
You have three days to check out the Conroe Boat Show in February. On Friday the 7th through the 9th, the event will be at the Lonestar Convention Center off of Airport Road. You’ll be able to see all the new models of boats, plus you’ll be able to see the slightly older 2024 models. This will be a great event for anyone looking to live the lake life.
Founder’s Day in Conroe
The city of Conroe is named after Isaac Conroe, who built a lumber mill sometime after 1881. He is considered the founder of the city after he successfully persuaded the railroad to add a stop in the then small town. Isaac Conroe also served as its first postmaster. Therefore, the city of Conroe is proud to celebrate him on Tuesday, February 11th. At 4 p.m. come out to 202 Avenue A, the former residence of Isaac Conroe, to the Founder’s Day Celebration. It is a free event for all ages.
Go-Texan Parade
On Saturday, February 22nd, the 60th Annual Go-Texan Parade will fill the streets in downtown Conroe. Festivities begin at 1:00 p.m. You can check out the parade route here. Expect to see covered wagons, cowboys, and lots of horses. This is a time when we celebrate Texas’ western heritage and the unofficial start of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. Of course, the parade is a free event and sure to be fun for all ages.
Now you can mark your calendars and arrange your schedule to attend any or all of these local events in February. Texans love to celebrate their history as evidenced by two of these three events. If you aren’t originally from here, it would be a great way to learn first-hand about your adopted state’s history.
