Christmas Events

With Thanksgiving over, everyone’s attention has shifted to Christmas. Putting up lights, baking cookies and sweet breads, and buying presents are typically family activities during the holiday season. Beginning this week in the Lake Conroe area, you will have two fun Christmas events to add to your schedule. Both are visual art productions, which run through next weekend so you have a little time. A local church hosts an incredible, drive-through experience with Bethlehem City and our community theatre performs a Christmas play.

Bethlehem City

West Conroe Baptist Church at 1855 Longmire Road in Conroe hosts a free Christmas event annually. The church transforms their land into ancient Bethlehem City in order to tell the story of the birth of Christ. This event is free to the public. The church also offers cookies and hot chocolate while you wait in line. You will drive through Bethlehem watching the story of Christ unfold. From the angel announcing His birth to the end of His time on earth, you will enjoy the experience in Bethlehem City.

Bethlehem City begins at 6:30 p.m. this Thursday, December 2nd through Sunday, December 5th. Then next week it will pick up again on Thursday, December 9th through Sunday, December 12th. Therefore you have a total of eight days to experience Bethlehem City. Don’t miss out! Since Jesus is the reason for the season, this drive-through event will be sure to put you in the Christmas spirit.

Elf the Musical

The historic Crighton Theatre in downtown Conroe is a treasure in the Lake Conroe area. Its address is: 234 Main Street in Conroe. It hosts plays, musicals, and concerts throughout the year. During the month of December, they are performing Elf the Musical. Witness first-hand Buddy the Elf as he travels to New York City from Santa’s workshop to find his true identity. Enjoy the musical and get in the Christmas spirit. After all “the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.”

Elf the Musical runs for the first three weekends of December. Therefore, look for dates between December 3rd – December 19th. The show begins at 8:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. On Sundays, the performance is a matinee and begins at 2:00 p.m. Tickets run between $17 to $26 a person. Additionally, you can select your seats online.

Two fun Christmas events begin this week in the Lake Conroe area. Both can put you in the Christmas spirit. One religious and the other secular, but both are sure to be wonderful experiences.
