Antique Rose Emporium

It is always a great time to drive out to the Antique Rose Emporium in Independence, Texas. However, this time of year might be your best excuse to load up the car and head out. Between the warm temperatures, the budding plants, and blooming roses, the Antique Rose Emporium has the perfect combination for sight-seeing. Today I am describing three reasons you should plan a trip: the scenery, the roses, and the landscaping.

Scenic Route

On your one hour drive from the Montgomery area to Independence, enjoy beautiful scenery especially once you cross the Brazos River just past Navasota. Rolling hills covered in bluebonnets and other wildflowers are sure to please your eyes. Believe me, your senses are just getting warmed up for all the beauty they have yet to see.

Roses Galore

The Antique Rose Emporium obviously specializes in antique roses. You might not understand what that means. However, you might believe that roses are hard to grow, temperamental, and high-maintenance. From their website they explain,  “Antique roses, we have since discovered, have changed that bias and made us lifelong advocates of easy care roses. We truly believe they are the ultimate garden plant.”

They have a large variety in all different colors and sizes. From climbing roses to tiny roses, you are sure to find some new favorites. I personally love the Lady of Shalott and Julia Child, but it is seriously hard to choose which ones to take home. This always makes it a joy to plan another trip.

Landscaping Inspiration

Remove the roses from the equation and the Antique Rose Emporium is still an awesome place to go. A variety of buildings and paths allow you to enjoy the place almost like a wonderfully manicured park. The landscaping throughout is sure to inspire you to bring home ideas for your own yard.

Whether you get the girls together for a day out or take the family, load up the car and head on over to the Antique Rose Emporium in Independence. Take a sketch book and/or camera. Pack a lunch or a snack. Enjoy the natural beauty of the area as well as the numerous varieties of roses. Be inspired to bring that beauty home. When you go on this great day-trip from the Lake Conroe area, it is a great excuse to stop and smell the roses.
