Montgomery County Fair

We might not have been able to go to the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, but it is fair time in Montgomery County. Polish up your cowboy boots, dust off your hat, and get ready to have a great time. The 2021 Montgomery County Fair and Rodeo begins today. From the BBQ Cookoff to Carnival rides, here are all the important details.

Dates & Location:

The Montgomery County Fair and Rodeo stretches out over Friday, April 9- Sunday, April 18th. It is held at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds. The address is: 9333 Airport Rd, Conroe, TX 77303.

Livestock Shows:

Youth from all over Montgomery County are preparing to move their livestock onto the fairgrounds and show how hard they have worked to raise their show animal. Market animals from rabbits to colts and broilers to steers will be judged for meat, appearance, conformation, and other desired qualities. The best of the best will be auctioned off to the public. However, some projects like the breeding beef show will be judged, but not auctioned.

BBQ Cook-Off:

From Thursday, April 15- Sunday, April 18th, the Montgomery County Fairgrounds transforms into a BBQ paradise. Teams from all over the county compete in Brisket, Ribs, Chicken, Dessert, and more. They all want to win the “Best of” title. The biggest night is Saturday, April 17th because winners are announced and live entertainment performs.

Rodeos:

If you love to watch rodeos, Montgomery County puts on a great one. From the Cowboy’s Professional Rodeo Association (CPRA) to Youth Rodeo, there are many events to see. Everyone’s favorite event is bull riding. However, I have always been partial to Mutton Bustin’. If you have never seen children try to ride and stay on a sheep, then you have to go. You won’t regret it. There are also Team Ropings and Ranch Rodeos.

Carnival & Vendors:

Crabtree Amusements will provide all the carnival rides and fun with no tokens. Guests will wear a re-loadable armband to gain access to rides and more. There are always a variety of rides, games, and other midway attractions. Of course, vendors sell food and drinks galore. The carnival is sure to be fun for kids of all ages.

The 2021 Montgomery County Fair and Rodeo starts today and offers so many events and activities. I have left so much out. There are non-livestock projects, many different contests, concerts, and special events. You definitely need to peruse their website. Of course, the fair is family-friendly. For tickets, click here. The fair is an opportunity to support the youth of Montgomery County, be entertained with live music and rodeo, and enjoy life. Like it says on their website, “It is more than cows.” Y’all, it is rodeo time in Montgomery County!
