It should not surprise you that a new community is moving into Willis. You have seen the influx of people from other states, especially California, in the Lake Conroe area. Since Conroe is one of the fast-growing cities in the United States right now, it is not hard to imagine that other places around Conroe would also grow. Just north on Interstate 45 from Conroe sits Willis, Texas. It will be home to “the largest age-restricted, active-adult community in the greater Houston area.”
The Plan
Developers have purchased 1,200 acres of land and are planning a massive adult community called Chambers Creek. They are planning to build 3,000 units and offer them to residents 55 and up. In addition, Chambers Creek will have hiking trails, a golf course, and biking trails. Residents will also be able to fish and even boat on the different lakes they have planned. Chambers Creek will also offer a community garden, green spaces, pickleball, bocce ball, horseshoes, tennis, and a resort-style swimming pool. They will even have a full-time lifestyle director. Jennifer Symons, the vice president of marketing for the company developing Chambers Creek, said, “We compare it (the lifestyle director position) to a cruise ship director,” Symons said. “You wake up that morning [with] an activity list of what else is going on that day.” There will also be a clubhouse and fitness center.
The Homes
Chambers Creek will eventually be home to 3,000 homes. Trusting that most active adults who have retired want to downsize, Chambers Creek will offer homes between 1,500 to 3,500 square feet. The starting price will be $280,000 for the patio homes. In addition to the amenities described above, residents will not have to mow their lawns. That service will be provided through the home owner’s association.
The Waitlist
According to Community Impact Newspaper, the waitlist for prospective residents is well underway. If you are interested in being part of this active adult community, you will have to not only check out their website but join their Interest List. They are set to break ground this fall.
Regardless if you qualify or are interested in this new active adult community in Willis, it does impact the Lake Conroe area. It is sure to attract retirees from all over the United States.
