Riding or running, which do you prefer? Two very different events are being held in the Lake Conroe area this upcoming Saturday. You can choose to ride or run. Let’s learn about both and then you can decide if you want to participate.

Sam Houston National Forest Cruise

The Northside Mustang Car Club is hosting this event. It begins at Gullo Ford in Conroe on Saturday, August 12th at 8:00 a.m. The Sam Houston National Forest Cruise allows you to enjoy the forest and all its beauty as well as some landmarks along the way with automobile enthusiasts.

They plan to pull out of the dealership at 8:30 a.m. and head to Anderson, Texas. It has a historic courthouse. It is not only beautiful, it is the only courthouse in Texas in the middle of the main street. At least that is what I have always been told. To learn about the Grimes County Courthouse, click here.

From there, the cruise is heading through the Sam Houston National Forest to Huntsville. They are eating at the City Hall restaurant, which has great burgers. Then they are heading to the Prison Museum. The cruise ends in Montgomery after going back through the forest.

Southern Star Brewing 5K Run

This event is hosted by Run in Texas. The fun run starts and finishes at the Southern Star Brewing Co. The course is shaded, which is ideal for this time of year. At the finish line, you can celebrate your accomplishment with beer from Southern Star. With your entry fee, you get a shirt, pint glass, and four 8-oz pours from the brewery. This race also begins Saturday, August 12th at 8:00 a.m.

Regardless of which you prefer, riding and running events are happening this Saturday in the Lake Conroe area. Enjoy the outdoors with like-minded people. These two events are just examples of the varied opportunities you have in this part of Texas. What a great community we live in!
