Calling all aspiring singers! The Sound of Small Town America is hosting an audition in Navasota, Texas. Navasota is easy to get to from the Lake Conroe area. Travel west on Hwy 105 to get to this quintessential small town. In today’s blog post, we will explore what this nationwide contest is for as well as how to participate.

When & Where

The final competition will be held in downtown Navasota on October 21st. On that day from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., contestants will compete to advance in the competition. Aspiring singers and musicians are competing for a chance to perform on the historic Grand Ole Opry stage in Nashville, Tennessee. It is an incredible opportunity!

How to Participate

There are two phases of the competition. Round One involves submitting an application to Inspirational Country Music. It is a faith-based country music organization. Here are the rules to enter the competition. It does require a $50 entry fee. A panel in Nashville will review all potential contestant’s video submissions and select the ones that will get a chance to perform in Navasota.

Round Two is the much more exciting portion of the competition. Each contestant will get five minutes on stage to showcase their musical talent. Winners will be announced during the concert at the street festival sometime between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m. The selected singers will then move on to the finals in Nashville.

Locations of the Contests

Besides Navasota, similar contests have already occurred in Owensboro, Kentucky, Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Lake Arthur, Louisiana. Navasota is the final opportunity to participate this year. So what makes Navasota special? First, it is the Blues Capital of Texas. Therefore, it has a rich history of music. The small town has revived its downtown area into a destination with restaurants, boutiques, coffee shops, and more. Every year the city hosts a large music festival celebrating Texas Independence Day called Texas Birthday Bash in March. Even if you are not interested in competing in the contest, you should consider visiting Navasota.
