Three Family-Friendly Ideas

There is so much to do throughout the year in the Lake Conroe/Montgomery area. This time of year families especially are looking for fun, memorable things to do. Here are three family-friendly ideas for you to consider doing this weekend: ice skating, visiting Santa, and drive to see Christmas lights.

Ice Skating:

Every year the Ice Rink at The Woodlands Town Center welcomes guests between November to January. There is nothing that says winter activity more than skating on ice and the Ice Rink offers anyone the ability to show-off their skating skills. They also offer private and group lessons for newbies. It is a large 21,000 square foot facility complete with lighting, sound, and tables.

It is best this year to purchase tickets in advance online. Because of COVID-19, the facility is watching the number of people skating at the same time. An advanced ticket will ensure you skate at your desired time. Your ticket allows you to skate for 1 hour and 45 minutes. And your tickets do include a skate rental. These run from $6 -$12.50 a person. The rink also offers helmet and walker rentals for an additional price.

Visit Santa:

Santa Claus is coming to town on Saturday between 6-9 p.m. at Southern Star Brewing Co. Kids of all ages can get a photo taken with him. Adults can also partake of the locally brewed beer. They have six currently limited releases like Le Mort Vivant, Fracker, and Korova Milkshake. Southern Star also has seasonal releases like Winter Warmer. Of course they have their year-round brews. In addition to Santa and beer, sing Christmas songs with the Home Brewed Brass Ensemble Band while you are there. According to their website, they are a “classically trained brass quintet with the versatility to perform for any occasion.”

Christmas Lights:

The Woodlands Church hosts a Festival of Lights. It is a free event and fun for the whole family every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night from 6-8 p.m. Walk through the lights, listen to Christmas carols, and sip on hot chocolate. While you are in The Woodlands, check out this list of Christmas Lights in The Woodlands Area for the best Christmas light viewing. We all know that some people decorate their homes better than others and some neighborhoods are known for having more Christmas spirit than others. These are the best of the best.

Ice skating, visiting Santa at a local brewery, and then seeing the best Christmas light displays makes for several fun outings. Now you have three family-friendly ideas you can do this weekend. You don’t have to travel far to enjoy a variety of Christmas activities. The Lake Conroe/Montgomery area has a lot to offer. It is one of the reasons it is a great place to live.
